A NECESSARY AND IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT PANSAT RECEIVERS:
The PANSAT 300a has the best reputation of all MPEG-2 receivers presently on the North American market's with the best PAL conversion by hardware , offering a better video image that not other unit can offer. .PANSAT has a reputation for quality, backed by an unusual commitment in their service department. Most other MPEG-2. Suppliers exchange in-warranty receivers for refurbished models. Out of warranty coverage can be questionable and sometimes not available at all. PANSAT has an in-house service department that is available for quick repairs in and out of warranty, and it is located here in the United States. Usually, the defective receiver is exchanged for a brand new or a brand new board replaces the defective unit. Parts and labor are covered for One Year from time of purchase and customers can send directly to Pansat the defective unit saving time and money.
The PANSAT 2100a is a full featured receiver built for the price conscious, but still covered by the famous PANSAT warranty. All other brands in the market has many of the features comparable with the PANSAT 300a, but with a lesser degree of warranty coverage. The" COMPETITOR'S one year warranty allows exchange for a repaired unit from a pool of refurbished receivers, IF they are available at that critic time for the user. This is a very well known issue in the hobbyist community who are the toughest critics pushing MPEG machines to the maximum operational limits for any and every brand.
DON'T BE BURNED
..A lot of receivers advertised in many places on the Net are really, really POOR when it comes to user features and ease of operation . And the most important POINT is hardware reliability (many could almost start a bonfire all by themselves). DON'T BE BURNED !!! - If you do some research you will see that WE HAVE THE BEST RECEIVERS currently available AT THE BEST PRICES and the BEST SUPPORT and KNOWLEDGE of the domestic and International markets. Quality. Credibility and recognition name made Pansat the best choice for MPEG-2 receiver. And the manufacturers give a full 12 months warranty to back that quality.
Pansat receivers has been tested under rigorous standards by NBC Network in Burbanks, in California, and the engineers running the tests, agree that Pansat 300 have better video quality that known commercial units . All units where tested under the same technical circunstances. In all tests, Pansat 300 was better that Scientific Atlanta, NDS, Magnitude, Wegener and Tadiran receivers costing 4 times more that the Pansat 300. The only commercial unit beating Pansat in video quality was the Thompson and Tiernan brands. NBC Burbanks is using Pansat 300 as a low cost alternative, and some Fox affiliates use Pansat 300 for the same reason. And this is a fact. Low cost, but with high quality.
HIGH END RECEIVER
Pansat 300 is the high end receiver in the MPEG digital world. Dealers and competitors ( manufacturers) recognize Pansat quality and standards. Many of the web sites selling Digital receivers mention Pansat. And in ALL discussion groups and forums around Internet, Pansat is mentioned as a HIGH END RECEIVER and the one against others are measured. This means RECOGNITION.
SOME HISTORY
Pansat-Hyundai, was the first MPEG-2 digital receiver introduced in the American and Latin American market since 1997 by Mike Kohl ( Global Communications )and Lionel Remigio ( Communications Research's President) We both, were pioneers in the event that changed the way we watch TV today. After 6 months, Hyundai-Panarex made a distribution deal and Hyundai labeled his model 100 as Pansat 300 as OEM branding label for Hyundai receivers. The rest is history and Hyundai-Pansat has been releasing digital units for the international market, and Communications Research Group has been the biggest distributor for Pansat receivers in the US, And Latin American countries. In Canada, Phil Simard ( http://www.kusat.com/) is the biggest Canadian distributor for Pansat brand.
5 RECEIVERS IS NOT ENOUGHT?
First was released Pansat 300, later Pansat 300, Pansat 300,Pansat 2100 and Pansat 2100. We already released 5 receivers into the international market . All with great acceptance and almost % return ( only a few defective units) and NOBODY can accomplish that. No other manufacturer can match Pansat record improving quality, incorporating new features and changing technologies for every receiver released, making obsolete every receiver released before. Even the own Pansat receivers.
When quality means something to you, Pansat is the recognition name and the one to follow, no matter what others say in order to sell cheap units.
Pansat is the best for the new MPEG channels and the king of digital mpeg receivers in use. Is the Cadillac of Digital MPEG Receivers. Just ask to the competitors...how many units they released into the market for the past 2 years? No manufacturer have more that 2 models. Must have ONLY one and after 3 years still selling the same old unit.
FIRMWARE "UPGRADES" AND PROBLEMS.
Are they(the manufacturers) willing to modernize their receivers?
This is a very important fact you need to know. When manufacturers find any problem in their receivers...they will try to fix the receivers problems issuing " new firmware versions" that are nothing more that patches or fixes for their problems. Sometimes the patches work, and sometimes don't. They just are covering the bad odor with some nice scent spray......
They will tell you that the new firmware version is "improving something in the receiver" and...why they released something that was NOT tested before? The answer is.... Because they don't care about the market and they never test units before market release.
What they never will tell you is THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM. And some problems can't be fixed with firmware upgrades because hardware is the matter. We all know that after 3 years, PANSAT never ever released a "upgrade" in order to fix a receiver. We never has a problem before. And you never, ever WILL SEE any new software or firmware ( upgrade) version , released for Pansat receivers. Do you know why? Because before releasing any new unit to the market, WE SUMMIT PROTOTYPES to EXTREME TESTS where the prototype unit is punish with shocks, vibrations, heat, cold and other lab tests. And this is why, Pansat is the BEST. Very simple. No fixes, no software upgrades. Just the best receiver.
Ask the others....how many receivers they released into the market.
Ask the others when they are going to change the same face plate, the same remote control.
Did you realize a car manufacturer selling the same car year after year? well...ask this to the ones selling the other units.
Simple like that.

I am trying to find a replacement remote for this unit, and all I have seen at a reasonable price on the auction sites are ones that work with 2700 and 3500 models. One major company said I could try it and see if it is compatible with full money back if it doesn't. Before I go for it I'd like to ask if anyone here know if these are compatible?
